Rail-Volution - October 29, 2020

During Rail-Volution’s Virtual Conference, Julie Quinn moderated a panel discussion, “Leading Through Crisis: Redefining Resiliency.” Panelists included Brandy Creed, P.E., D.WRE, Senior Transit Project Manager, Jacobs; Leslie Richards, General Manager, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA); Justin Augustine III, RTA Regional General Manager/Vice President, Transdev North America, Inc.; and Faye DiMassimo, FAICP, Senior Advisor for Transportation and Infrastructure, Mayor’s Office of Transportation, Metro Government of Nashville and Davidson County. Together, the panelist recounted lessons learned responding to and recovering from countless crises.

Julie Quinn joined a panel of subject matter experts to answer the question, “Did the Coronavirus Just Torpedo Sustainability, Public Transit and New Urbanism?” The panelists sought to help sustainability advocates gain perspective on how the pandemic has affected our culture in Los Angeles, identify strategies that maintain sustainable goals in the aftermath of the pandemic, and understand how we can make Los Angeles more resilient and more prepared for natural disasters.

How do organizations best prepare for and respond to disasters while managing a pandemic the scale of COVID-19? Julie Quinn moderated a discussion among Susan Duenas, Public Safety Manager, City of Malibu; Wendy Hopkins, Public Information Officer, California Department of Public Health; and Amie Hoeber, National Security Expert and President, AHM Consulting. The panelist explored the short and long-term implications of COVID-19 on planning efforts for other security and emergency events.

During a webinar presented by the Transportation Research Board, Julie Quinn and her fellow panelists expounded on ARCP Report 195: Best Practices for Airport Obstruction Management Guidebook. The panelists shared ways to recognized obstructions and tools to develop obstruction management programs.

American public transportation association (APTA) 2018 rail conference - June 11, 2018

As part of the 2018 Rail Conference, Julie Quinn moderated a panel discussion on Technology Innovations and Best Practices in Co-Locating Bus and Rail. Topics included the use of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in Operations Control Centers, why co-location is important, how to co-locate bus and rail, and lessons learned from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro).
